On the first weekend of fall, a festival filled with food, drinks, and music feels nothing short of appropriate and necessary. With more than 20 vendors, including The Cookery, Mr. Koo’s Kitchen, Bread & Brine, Boro6, Big Bang Coffee Roasters, Baked by Susan, Westchester Burger Truck, and more, Rivertown Public Market seems like just what the season calls for.
Organized by the Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce, the market will take place on September 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Waterfront Park in Dobbs Ferry. “We saw an opportunity to bring the community together for a day filled with live music, kids’ activities, and, most importantly, destination-worthy food and drinks — the kind that you’ll still be salivating over as you scroll through your Instagram feed months from now,” says Ali Moss, a member of the five-person team that founded the market.

Admission to the market is free, and visitors can purchase specialty drinks and dishes from vendors. Expect limited-edition blood-orange Old Fashioned cocktails from Taconic Distillery and Rochambeau Wines & Liquors; whole-hog, Carolina-style barbeque from Campbell Meats; and “Pilgrim Sandwiches” (open-flame-roasted turkey with stuffing and cranberry relish) from Chef David DiBari.

Dobbs Ferry Sustainability Task Force will be onsite, as well, ensuring the Market is a sustainable event, with trained volunteers sorting recyclables and compost. “Vendors must use recycled or compostable serve ware and may only use compostable or paper straws. In future years, we’d like to work toward making the event zero waste,” says Moss.
With as many as 3,000 projected to attend, Moss and her team hope that the market can become an annual event for the area. “Proceeds benefit the Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization that supports businesses in our community and is committed to making the Rivertowns a thriving destination for eating, drinking, and entertainment,” says Moss.
