The Food Truck Fare You Can Expect at the Burger and Beer Blast

In case burgers aren’t your thing.

The Westchester Magazine Wine & Food Festival wouldn’t be complete without the Burger and Beer Blast. Not into burgers? Don’t worry. Six of our favorite local food trucks will be showing off their hauls at the event alongside your favorite burger joints on June 8. Read on to find out what to expect and what you’ll be able to enjoy that isn’t a patty between buns.

Walter’s Hot Dogs

Fare: American classics

What was your inspiration behind the food truck?

Our grandfather, Gene Warrington, had a food truck at Harbor Island in Mamaroneck in the late ’70s, early ’80s. We’ve heard from so many patrons that their fondest Walter’s memories came from eating at the food truck at the Harbor. Thirty years later, we wanted to bring those memories back to a new generation of customers. It has been in the making since 2007!

Why are you excited for the Burger and Beer Blast?

It’s our favorite event of the year and it brings together the entire Westchester food community. We have a great time catching up with customers, new and old, and our friends in the food industry. Not to mention, the burgers…

What will you be serving?

We’ll be serving our classic Walter’s Single hot dog, alongside a customer-favorite, our Funnel Cake Fries. Think Funnel Cake in stick form, covered with powdered sugar. They’re so addictive!

The Souvlaki Truck

Fare: Traditional Greek street food

What was the inspiration behind The Souvlaki Truck?

This is the food that I grew up on.  My parents used to send my brother Nick and I off to Greece for the entire summer pretty much every year when we were little.  The Pork Souvlaki Pitas were it for us… and that is what I try to duplicate every day on the street.

Why are you excited for this year’s Burger and Beer Blast?

This is REALLY my favorite event of the year!  I LOVE BEER… and it just goes so well with our food.

What will you be serving?

We will be serving our Hand Cut Oregano Fries along with our Chicken and Pork.

Longford’s Mobile Scoop Shoppe

Fare: Ice Cream

What was the inspiration behind the food truck?

My Inspiration in doing the food truck was the Longford’s consumers I have had the pleasure in serving over the last 20 years. They know what they want, and with a product as great as Longford’s Ice Cream, it was easy to deliver on and be successful with the truck.

Why are you excited for the Burger and Beer Blast?

I am excited for the Burger and Beer Blast because it’s a chance for me to showcase my truck and product to the greatest foodies of Westchester. What’s a better way to follow a burger and a beer, then with award-winning ice cream?

What makes your ice cream unique?

Longford’s ice cream is a high butter fat product which gives it its dense, creamy flavor and texture. We are very creative in the factory, and try our best to stay with the times and within our boundaries of the flooded industry. We have survived the yogurt craze and still stand strong at the top in Westchester. “Often imitated but never duplicated.” I Love Longford’s ice cream and that makes it easy to sell.

The Doughnation Truck

Fare: Neapolitan pizza

What was the inspiration behind the food truck?

As a child, Chef DiBari’s uncle had built a wood-fired pizza oven in their family backyard.  After opening The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry, Chef DiBari was looking for a way to share his passion for pizza.  He finds something beautiful in the natural wood fire and simplicity of ingredients.

What is your most popular item?

Margherita is definitely most popular, using our fresh, daily house-made mozzarella, but the Lemon Pie with it’s balance of bold, fresh flavors drizzled with lemon-pressed olive oil is also a fan favorite

Why are you excited for the Burger and Beer Blast?

We are excited to be back and happy to be a part of some great food vendors in Westchester!

Empanada Mania

Fare: Empanadas

What was the inspiration behind the food truck?

I grew up spending summers in Ecuador where empanadas could be found everywhere and felt it could be a staple here also.

Why are you excited for the Burger and Beer Blast?

I really enjoy these events as I get to have fun doing what I love and having face time with the people that have made us the highest-rated empanada specialty brand in the tri-state area.

What can people expect when they visit your truck? Will you be making anything special?

The best empanadas around made with heart!  We will be serving our bacon cheeseburger empanada!

Bona Bona Ice Cream Truck

Fare: Ice Cream

What was the inspiration behind the ice cream truck?

It’s more exciting going to the customers, than the customers coming to us.

I’m assuming you can’t bring all your flavors. How do you choose?

We take our classics; Rainbow Cookie, Nutella S’mores, Backyard Mint Chip, and B Loves Dough.

Will you be making anything special?

Our signature Bona Style Cone – any flavor topped with homemade fresh marshmallow
