Leaves in a Bowl

Relocating to 3 Spring St, Hastings-on-Hudson in October

- Partner Content -

Nine years ago, Andrea Riesenfeld stumbled into a Japanese teashop in Paris for a cup of sencha. Little did she know that it would be the beginning of her tea journey. She trained as a tea sommelier at the UK Tea Academy and climbed in the Japanese tea gardens of Uji. Since then, she’s grown to see tea as not only a beverage but also a plant medicine. “Leaves in a bowl” refers to the first way tea was consumed in ancient China and how it mindfully connects us to tea, nature, and ourselves. The tea shop is warm and welcoming, a place for those looking for a healing and restorative experience. Tea lovers are welcome to stop by for a sample and to get to know the collection of premium teas from China, Taiwan, and Japan. The tea offerings for October to December 2024 are DA BEI and Gongfu Cha. For those who want to visit, please note that the shop is in the midst of relocating to Irvington.

Pick Up Bubble Tea

18 S Moger Ave, Mount Kisco; 914.218.3237

If we’re putting together a tea roundup, it’s only right to include a locally owned bubble tea shop. The idea for Pick Up Bubble Tea came during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to “bring a little joy and smile to people’s lives.” The store serves high-quality tapioca, teas, and bubble tea. Top picks on the menu are Thai tea with boba, hot taro, matcha or coconut creamy, and hibiscus fruit tea. The shop currently offers two seasonal items: pumpkin spice boba and caramel apple boba.

Silver Sips

Online

Silver Tips Tea Room closed its doors on Tarrytown’s Main Street in 2018 after 18 years of operation. Tea lovers can still purchase sips from the brand on its online-only store, which houses loose-leaf teas, organic teas, accessories, and gifts. Owner Anupa Mueller grew up in India, one of the world’s tea capitals, and attended boarding school in the Himalayas surrounded by lush tea plantations. After a career in the United Nations, she eventually returned to her roots and love for tea when she opened her market. The online store features teas from all over the world and helps small farmers sell their tea.
