Global Grains
Philipsburg Manor, Sleepy Hollow
July 13, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Calling all bread enthusiasts! Head over to the Philipsburg Manor on July 13 for a day celebrating bread from Africa to the Americas. There will be bread-making demonstrations, hands-on activities such as salt dough and paste paper, and tours. Local breadmakers will be in attendance to showcase their delicacies. René León, chef and owner of Leon’s Latin Café in Thornwood, will focus on empanadas and quinoa crisps. Pam Nyambi will demonstrate the preparation of akkara fritters. Buffalo Jump NYC will showcase Indigenous frybread, while Hudson Oven of Croton-on-Hudson will recreate ship’s biscuits from the 18th century. Voila Afrique will offer samples of eba, introducing visitors to this African staple’s flavors. Admissions are $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and young adults 18-25. Children 17 and under and Historic Hudson Valley members attend free.

White Plains Jazz & Food Festival
Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains
September 15, 12:30-7:30 p.m.
JazzFest White Plains is back for its 13th season. There will be live jazz performed outdoors, food, and dancing all day long. From 12:30-1:15 p.m., the Westchester Center for Jazz & Contemporary Music will be performing. Anaïs Reno will take the stage from 1:45-2:45 p.m., with Brandon Sanders performing his acoustic post-bop jazz set at 3:15 p.m. and Julius Rodriguez wrapping it up from 4:45-5:45 p.m.

Pack the whole family and a picnic blanket into the car for a full day of live entertainment, arts and crafts, and, most importantly, a delectable variety of food and drinks just north of Westchester County.
