Know a kid (maybe yours, foodies) who’s caught the chef bug? Here’s something to chase away the summer doldrums: cooking in the professional kitchen of über-glamorous 42, Restaurant & Events at the top of The Ritz-Carlton in White Plains, the tallest building between Manhattan and Boston. At Cooking with Ms. Angela and Friends, a series of week-long cooking camps run by certified teacher Angela Bastone-Goncalves, kids will get hands-on lessons from 42 Chef and Owner Anthony Goncalves and guest chefs, rotating among stations.

They’ll use unusual tools (a blast freezer, a ravioli maker), jazz up ordinary ingredients (fruit might be folded into butter, eggs nestled into bread), and choose ingredients on a trip to the White Plains farmers’ market. Snacks are provided daily. The week for kids 7 to 9 focuses on ethnic cuisines; for kids 10 and older, choose from two weeks—and parents, there’s a lunch in it for you on the last day of class.
