We sat down with Stephen Mandracchia, the Director of Food and Beverages at Broadview, a university-based retirement community opening in Purchase.

The university-based retirement community, Broadview at Purchase College, is officially coming to the Purchase College campus and slated to open this fall. In preparation for the grand opening, it is hiring and welcoming new staff members, including one local name, Chef Stephen Mandracchia.

Mandracchia is a renowned chef with over 25 years of experience in the industry. At Broadview, he begins a new chapter of his career. Mandracchia has been cooking since he was nine years old, starting off at a seafood restaurant owned by his family right in Mamaroneck. Following that gig, he went off to Washington, D.C., where he started his career professionally.

Mandracchia joins Broadview at Purchase College as the Director of Food and Beverages. His aim is to help bring great memories to those living at Broadview, and he wants to be able to give back to the community as a chef in the best way he knows how: with great food.

“Food can evoke such powerful memories in people,” says Mandracchia. “That makes me really proud, and I want to be able to bring that back to people.”

As Director of Food and Beverages, Mandracchia will be helming all the dining venues located in Broadview at Purchase College. He will be overseeing the entirety of the culinary operations from front to back. Adding to this, he will be hiring chefs and creating menus and services for the property.

“This is a good point in my career to try and make a difference because I can. Broadview gives me the opportunity for that. These people will have extraordinary food. I’ve been very fortunate in my career, I’ve cooked for very privileged people, and I’ve made them happy,” explains Mandracchia. “This is kind of the last stop for me in my career. I can make a difference with them; I can give them those memories. Because when you’re in a place like this, what do you look forward to? Dinner. I can do that, so I’m looking forward to that.”
