Whether you’re a Westchester resident or just passing through, these cafes in New Rochelle are worth the stop.

As New Rochelle booms and reinvents itself as a city on the rise, the citizens have to run on something other than the standard cup of joe. These three new cafes in the Queen City of the Sound are bringing new flavors and inspiration to a place on the precipice of revitalization.

Joe Coffee

10 Lecount Pl

Westchester’s first location of this beloved Manhattan chain, Joe Coffee takes up residence in the Stella building, one of downtown’s new skyline jewels. The artisanal coffee brand offers up classics like cappuccinos, but also new twists such as the turmeric latte and the rosemary maple latte. You can’t go wrong with a pastry pairing, cooked up by New York-based The Hungry Gnome. The hotspot also showcases Nutella stuffed banana bread and grown-up cosmic brownies.

Insider Tip: If you can already feel the need for a midday pick-me-up, Joe Coffee sells its brew in to-go cans for a convenient and delicious two-o’clock jolt.

Cafetero

111 Centre Ave; 914.361.2022

Sprouted up in the new Modera building is this sleek and stylish café. The boutique coffee shop spotlights local farms and Colombian-grown beans from all across the region, brewed in iterations from lattes to Americanos to cold brew. Founded by the duo behind another New Rochelle eatery, R Café & Tea Boutique on Huguenot Street, the space provides ample seating for work or relaxing.

Insider Tip: While the coffee is enough of a reason to swing by, the homemade prepared food is not to miss. We recommend the chicken empanadas.

Casaroma Café

391 Huguenot St

Brainchild of owners Yaretsy Flores, Kevin Rucker, and Donnell Culver, this newcomer brings new flair to New Rochelle’s F&B scene. The specialty coffee joint began with local popups, serving up curated drinks such as the agave cinnamon latte and matcha latte, but has now settled into a brick-and-mortar home on the first floor of The Huguenot apartment building. Driven by culture, community, and collaboration, Casaroma’s mission is to expand far beyond just a place to stop for a drink.

Insider Tip: You may not expect a coffee shop to have stunning merch, but Casaroma’s artfully designed t-shirt is the first of many stylish ways you can rep both local businesses and your city.
