With fun sips and a stellar ambiance, this nautical-themed coffee shop is about to become your go-to coffee-and-chill spot.

Like a siren song of good vibes and better caffeine, the newly opened Harpoon Hanna’s of New Rochelle calls out to anyone looking for high-quality fare and a giant Scrabble board. Woven into the décor but never in a tacky Joe’s Crab Shack style-ambiance, the nautical nods spring from the walls of the coffee shop: a marine life mural is port-side upon arrival, well-appointed neon guides you to the front of the store like a lighthouse on the shore, and an old-school diving helmet greets you at the counter.

“I have been in New Rochelle for 15 years now and am very familiar with the neighborhoods and the people here,” says owner Kimberley Diniz. “New Rochelle has a sizable amount of coastline along the Long Island Sound. Yet hardly any businesses pay any ode to its geographical location. The intent is to allow our patrons to enjoy the theme, the atmosphere, and relax with a quality beverage.”

The menu is flush with enough options to cause even the most purist of coffee drinkers to re-think their order. Cozy up with a proper espresso: a double espresso with a seltzer sidecar. Looking for something on the sweeter side? Dive into the dulce de leche latte or the salted nut latte, available hot or iced. And if coffee just isn’t your thing, the southern peach iced tea will certainly whet your whistle. For the kiddos (or honestly the adults, we don’t judge), the hot chocolate comes with whipped cream, graham crackers, and torched marsh’. From top to bottom, the drink menu for Harpoon Hanna’s was well thought out and expertly curated. “I prioritized the cold brew process and creating nitro brew because there are so few places locally that offer a well-rounded coffee and tea menu like us,” explains Diniz.

The shop also serves up galley grub: an assortment of both avocado and ricotta toasts, pastries, and other seasonal surprises like the Blue Sunrise: sourdough toast, pistachio spread, blueberries, sliced almonds, and a drizzle of honey. While the name is a reference from the Jules Verne novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the nibbles and sips of bliss are enough to keep your head in the clouds for the remainder of your day.
