105-Twenty Brings a Cool New Vibe to Croton-on-Hudson

With spring training about to get underway, we can report that the team behind 105-Ten Bar & Grill in Briarcliff Manor and Mission Taqueria in Pleasantville have hit another home run with Croton-on-Hudson’s 105-Twenty Bar & Grill.

The restaurant, with its bistro-cool good looks and kitchen serving classic comfort food and healthy offerings, is equally suited for families, friends enjoying a night out, and couples looking for great cocktails.

Tony Fortunate, co-owner of the three restaurants, says there were a couple of factors guiding the decision to have different menus in Croton and Briarcliff. “We get a good number of customers from Croton at 105-Ten, so we want to give them two dining experiences,” he says, noting that the layout of 105-Twenty, with its separate bar, exposed brick walls, banquette seating, and starburst light fixtures, lends itself to “slightly more elevated” food choices.

There are some perennial favorites at both restaurants, such as the Sticky Bites, boneless chicken bites with a house blend of sauces, and the tuna tacos. Fortunate says that customers at 105-Twenty are ordering more wine and cocktails — try seasonal libations such as the Pear Cider Hot Toddy and the Winter White Cosmo — than beer.

On a recent cold winter evening, we ate our vegetables as a cauliflower appetizer, bubbling with a combination of three cheeses and topped with panko. For entrées we had a free-range, roasted half chicken, which was flavorful and juicy, with Yukon gold potatoes that has us asking for the recipe. The tuna poke bowl was bright and flavorful, with red quinoa and a great helping of the raw ahi tuna. The meal was capped off with a dessert special of Oreo cheesecake parfait, which was more than ample to share.

Brunch is served on Sundays (as of now) and features such menu items as a sunny-side salad, lobster Benedict, and an array of flatbreads and sandwiches. And if you choose to indulge, there are bottomless Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas. For seasonal outdoor dining, the deck is getting a revamp and there’ll be some seating in the front of the restaurant.

Fortunate notes that the atmosphere at 105-Twenty, and the menu with options that range from a sandwich to “take it up a notch” entrées (the most expensive item is $28), has generated repeat business and “ideally lends itself to our brand desire to cater to all palates.”
