Weekends call for leisurely mornings with a heaping stack of flapjacks and hot coffee, but it’s National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 4, so butter our biscuits and call it Sunday all day!
To honor this breakfast favorite, we’ve compiled a short stack of our favorite pancakes in Westchester, with offerings ranging from simple buttermilk flapjacks to over-the-top creations featuring apples and Nutella. And many of these spots score extra points for serving your pancakes with genuine maple syrup, too — you know, the type that’s tapped from actual trees.
Bella’s Restaurant
5 S Broadway, Tarrytown; 914.332.0444
This family-owned restaurant has been operating since 1979. The homey establishment serves up an array of omelets, French toast, and sandwiches. On the pancake front, it offers Chubby Elvis pancakes with banana, peanut butter chips, and maple bacon and Apple Orchard pancakes with baked apples, cinnamon, and granola, as well as a handful of other classic stacks. All come with powdered sugar dusting and maple syrup.
On the Way Café
34 Ridgeland Terr, Rye; 914.921.2233
This quaint corner restaurant has been pumping out breakfast and lunch for as long as most folks can remember. And while the country-style pancakes are a permanent menu favorite, both the blueberry and the banana nut flapjacks are equally delicious. All are served with a healthy dollop of whipped cream on top.

The Original Pancake House
170 Hamilton Ave, White Plains; 914.683.3770
No list about best pancakes would be complete without The Original Pancake House. Every pancake here is a star (we see you, oven-baked Dutch baby), but the real specialty is the German apple pancake, which consists of a load of sautéed apples, clarified butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Your greed may make you turn down the offer to share this enormous bad boy, but your stomach may say otherwise.

Parkway Café
52 East Pkwy, Scarsdale; 914.723.9008
This locally owned restaurant has been serving Westchester for over 70 years, and that homey feel comes across in the pancakes. The standard buttermilk flapjacks are golden brown and relatively thick, and every amazing bite of the other flavors like sweet potato, chocolate chip, fruit, and flaxseed stacks makes the wait to get a table worth it.

Pelville Coffee & Pastry
300 Fifth Ave, Pelham; 914.740.5243
Perfectly light and fluffy, the pancakes here are as straightforward and delicious as they get — the only options are plain or blueberry. They’re served with the usual accoutrements of maple syrup and a generous helping of salted butter. Owner and chef Jim Evangelos says that using real buttermilk and resisting the urge to overmix the batter makes all the difference in the world, and we couldn’t agree more.
