Benjamin’s Steakhouse

610 W Hartsdale Ave, White Plains
(914) 428-6868
Special: $79 per person

It’s an age-old conundrum that dogs the Valentine’s Day patrons of top-notch steakhouses everywhere: I know I’m supposed to be in love with the person across from me, but I think I’m falling for this fine, fine establishment right now. With a Champagne-toast greeting and a Valentine’s Day menu that offers three courses, including entrees like porterhouse steak, surf & turf, and sea bass, Benjamin’s is no exception. And then there’s the atmospheric component of the love spell—count on being immersed in a warm, wood-paneled, romantic atmosphere.

Crabtree’s Kittle House

11 Kittle Rd, Chappaqua
(914) 666-8044
Special: $75 per person

Crabtree’s Kittle House is renowned for its old world charm, gourmet food, and, of course, award-winning wine list, so we can’t think of a safer bet this Valentine’s Day. The star of the four-course prix-fixe menu is a roast filet mignon with potato gnocchi, wild mushrooms, and béarnaise sauce. Actually, we spoke too soon—the almond honey cake with blood orange sauce might well steal the main dish’s thunder. In any case, know that the Valentine’s special is offered Saturday and Sunday in case you don’t make it out on Friday.

Dolphin Restaurant

Van Der Donck St, Yonkers
(914) 751-8170
Special: 5 pm seating, $44.99 per person; 7 & 9 pm seating, $59.99 per

Gents, deliver your flowers before dinner or risk being upstaged by Dolphin, which on Valentine’s Day will be handing every lady a long-stemmed rose. What’s more: A team of professional photographers will be circulating to take pictures of you and your date while you dine—you can take one home at the end of the night. Entrees range from baked filet of red snapper to lobster ravioli to charred rib eye. Oh, and don’t miss the Junior’s “Skyscraping Red Velvet” cake for dessert.

42

1 Renaissance Sq, White Plains
914) 761-4242

Special: $225 per couple
Three seatings: 4:30, 7:15, and 9:45 pm

Nothing says “I love you” like a decadent five-course dinner at the Ritz’s 42. Whether you opt for the maple pork chop, arctic char, beef short rib, or chicken fried rice for the main course, make sure you pair your meal with one of 42’s “specialty” cocktails, or at least a glass (bottle?) of wine or two from the extensive wine list.

La Crémaillére

46 Bedford-Bronxville Rd, Bedford
(914) 234-9647
No Special

There’s no Valentine’s Day menu at La Cremaillere, but that’s because this cozy Bedford hideaway doesn’t need one—the French favorite is about as romantic as they come. Choose from a variety of hors d’oeuvres, poissons (seafood) and viands et volailles (meat and poultry) selections, and, of course, a dessert menu that, 10 enticing items long, could send you into a frenzy of gotta-have-it indecision.

Fig and Olive

696 White Plains Rd, Scarsdale
(914) 725-2900
Special: $55 per person

Fig and Olive’s prix-fixe menu consists of three dishes and blends influenced from the southern coasts of Spain, France, and Italy. Begin with starters like seared scallops and chanterelle or oysters on the half shell, and move on to main offerings like roasted rack of lamb, Chilean sea bass, Riviera salmon, and filet mignon. Whichever you choose, save room for the grand finale—a Valrhona Chocolate brownie of milk chocolate, mascarpone mousse, and chocolate raspberry glaze.

Chutney Masala

4 W Main St, Irvington
(914) 591-5500
No special

Chutney Masala is practically legend in this county’s river towns, at least when it comes to Indian cuisine. Plus, the exposed brick walls make for a distinctly romantic atmosphere. And though there’s no Valentine’s Day special per se, there will be three special, non-menu dishes offered that day: chettinad crabcakes, tandoori octopus, and shaam savera. Prices range from the upper teens to the mid-to-upper 20s.

Red Hat on the River

1 Bridge St, Irvington
(914) 591-5888
Special: $70 per person

If riverside dining spells romance for you and your date, look no farther than Red Hat’s window laden dining room. This Valentine’s Day, it’s home to not only fantastic Hudson views, but also a prix fixe menu with three courses.  Choose from entrees like short rib bourguignon, aged New York strip steak, Scottish salmon, and Block Island fluke. And don’t forget to sample a glass or two of their sangria for $12.
