An Italian steakhouse in Armonk, a wonderful wine bar in New Rochelle, and a flavorful food market in Hastings-on-Hudson make the month delicious.
Macelleria Armonk Italian Steakhouse (111 Bedford Rd, Armonk; 914.219.5728) opened late last year where Kitchen 273 had been. On the menu: salmon crudo, clams oreganata, an heirloom red-and-gold beet salad, pappardelle with braised short-rib ragù, pan-roasted Chilean sea bass, New York strip, and a veal chop. A sibling location has been operating in Pelham since July 2019.
In the space that once housed The Gnarly Vine is now Aura Wine Bar (501 Main St, New Rochelle; 914.355.2814). A short bar menu of apps, salads, and pizza is available to pair with a large, by-the-glass selection, plus many affordable bottles.
What began in 2009 as a stall at the Hastings Farmers’ Market is now Italian food market diRiso Risotto Balls (42 Main St, Hastings-on-Hudson; 914.355.7738). Panzerotti (savory turnovers akin to small calzones), cornetti (Italian croissants), focaccia sandwiches, lasagna, eggplant parm, and a variety of risotto balls (porcini mushroom; sweet sausage and beef ragu; basil pesto) are among the offerings.
Dianne DiNardo, whose family owns Silvio’s Ristorante in Thornwood and Il Forno in Somers, has debuted an at-home, custom-dinner-party service, Dinner-Parties, for 8-16 guests. Select from among 10 menus (by either Marcia Selden Catering or Matt Miller Culinary Productions), and the meal is delivered to your Westchester home with finishing instructions, menu, and place cards; optional add-ons include tablescapes, florals, staff, paired wines, and cocktails.
Mikey Dubb’s Frozen Custard (1282 North Ave, New Rochelle; 914.999.4488) was awarded a blue ribbon for its chocolate custard and a white ribbon for its vanilla custard at The National Ice Cream Retailers Association Virtual Trade Show and Convention, the largest ice cream retailers’ event in the U.S.
FLOURISH Baking Company (160 Summerfield St, Scarsdale; 914.725.1026), a plant-based bakery free from eggs, dairy, all animal products, peanuts, and tree-nuts, is now offering six varieties of vegetable-filled buns (e.g., cabbage pierogi, pulled barbecue mushroom), plus doughnuts, including chocolate crumb, cornbread, coffee cake, and wild blueberry.
