RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen (127 West Main St, Hudson Harbor, Tarrytown, 914-631-3100), Crabtree’s Kittle House’s 125-seat sibling restaurant, was scheduled to have opened at the end of September, after press time. The executive chef is John Holzwarth, previously of The Boathouse in Westport, Connecticut, and Felidia in Manhattan. The menu features Hudson Valley-sourced ingredients with Mediterranean influences. Think pasta, salads, wood-fired pizzas, burgers, seafood, steaks, and chops ($18-$40 for entrées). Also at the same location is a gourmet market and a wine shop named RiverMarket Wines & Spirits
“Those who have been here won’t recognize it,” says Chef/Owner Anthony Goncalves about the renovation of 42 The Restaurant (One Renaissance Sq at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester, White Plains 914-761-4242; 42therestaurant.com) completed between August 8 and September 9. It’s a move away for Goncalves from special-occasion fine dining towards more casual “vibe dining.” “It was fun to do anniversaries and birthdays, but, after six years, it was time for a change,” he says. The new look includes lots of natural materials like woods and cements, plus an aquatic blue color scheme; Bellotta at 42, the tapas lounge, has closed and 42 now occupies the entire space. The menus have been merged—the cuisine is New American with Iberian influences. Tapas staples such as grilled octopus, ceviche, and hamachi crudo plus entrées ($22 to $29) of Portuguese fried chicken, pan-roasted duck breast, and duck leg confit atop forbidden rice and halibut with Japanese yams, turnips, and chorizo are offered. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday for happy hour and dinner only, as well as for private events (closed Mondays March to September)

The owners at Il Castello in Mamaroneck have opened Sapori (324 Central Ave, White Plains 914-684-8855; saporiofwhiteplains.com) in the space that once housed Grace’s Table. The 180-seat restaurant serves classic Italian dishes including linguine with New Zealand baby clams, chicken Martini, veal medallions in a porcini mushroom sauce, and a pan-seared pork chop with broccoli rabe and cannellini beans. Most entrées cost between $18 and $28. Peach tarts and banana flambé are among the homemade desserts. Sapori (“flavors” in Italian) is open daily for lunch and dinner
Owner Nick Di Costanzo has closed Siete Ocho Siete (Puerto Rican cuisine) and reopened it as Capriccio Latino (414 Pelham Rd, New Rochelle 914-636-1229; capricciolatinony.com), an Italian-Latin hybrid restaurant. On the menu: grilled skirt steak in a Cabernet reduction, stuffed chicken breast in Marsala wine sauce, linguini with mixed seafood, and slow roasted pork with rice and beans. Don’t miss the Mojito bar, with more than 10 varieties including peach, whiskey, passion fruit, and the Henny, made with Hennessey Cognac. Capriccio is open daily for lunch and dinner
Prices have been reduced by about 25 percent and portion size has increased at Hudson at Haymount House (25 Studio Hill Rd, Briarcliff Manor 914-502-0080; haymounthouseny.com). Organic Skuna Bay salmon ($24), brick-roasted free-range chicken ($24), and handmade pappardelle with a rabbit ragu ($26) are main dishes to sample. Hudson’s chef is Bruce Beaty, formerly of Red Hat on the River in Irvington, who joined in April
Indian restaurant Shukaila (2250 Central Ave, Yonkers 914-337-2957; shukailaindian.com) has added a separate Lebanese menu to its offerings, including dishes like hummus, baba ghanouj, shish kebab, falafel, and baklava. Guests can order from either or both the Indian and Lebanese menus
