These Butcher Shops Are Musts for Top-Notch Meat in Westchester

Here are our go-to meat markets for gourmet steak, burgers, sausage, and more during grilling season in Westchester County.

Do you start to salivate at the first whiff of burgers on the grill? Just in time for ever-tempting Memorial Day backyard barbecues, here is a guide to local purveyors of gourmet meats around Westchester County.

The Butcher’s Fancy

961 McLean Ave, Yonkers; 914.237.8260

With good humor, Irish charm, and serious butchering “chops,” County Leitrim’s Oliver Charles and his wife, Liz Charles, have been providing Old Country delectables to Westchesterites for three-plus decades, specializing in Irish bacon and sausage, burgers, and all manner of steaks. Top sellouts include homemade pork, leek sausage, and burgers with Irish bacon and Irish cheddar, along with the Irish spiced burger, flavored with marinara, onion, and seasoning.

Fiamma Pork Store

107 Halstead Ave, Harrison; 914.630.1452

Italian for “flame,” Fiamma is led by Doug Tucci, a transplanted Bronx restaurateur who has been turning up the heat in Harrison for more than five years. The shop focuses on Prime beef, ribeye, porterhouse, Pennsylvania chicken and pork, and homemade classic Italian sausage that comes hot, sweet, or without fennel. Call ahead for weekend orders of cheese and parsley sausage rings. Pro tip: Add a little zing to your barbecue thing with a house-jarred rub of brown-sugar pork or espresso.
