Location: Chappaqua

“This master-suite project included reconstructing and improving the bedroom, bath, and closet,” says Daniel Contelmo. “The bed was on an undesirable wall due to the location of the doorway leading to the bath and closet. The doorway was moved to the right corner, enabling the bed to be positioned in its current location.”

The new master bath has a 10-foot tray ceiling, and the closet was opened up with a vaulted ceiling. The vanity, cabinets, and closet built-ins were designed by Daniel Contelmo Architects. Benjamin Moore paints, mostly whites and grays, were used throughout. The bedroom fireplace surround, bathroom vanity, makeup area, tub surround, and shower jambs feature Bianco Carrara tile from Precision Stone Marble and Stone.

As part of a whole-home renovation, the master suite pulls color themes from other parts of the house for a seamless effect throughout the home. “The clients wanted a more gracious entry into the suite,” says Dufner, “so we moved the doorway and the location of the bed.”
