Maple & Rose Wants to Feed You Supper

An upmarket catering company founded by ex-Chipotle managers launches.

The name, derived from New York State’s official tree and flower, also happens to be the first initials of co-owners Matt Gorney and Ryan Hart. Both New York-born residents recently moved their families to Eastchester and Larchmont, respectively.

With Gorney’s marketing prowess (previously he handled content marketing at Chipotle Mexican Grill) and CIA-graduate Chef Hart’s impressive resume — including stints at Mario Batali’s Babbo and Jonathan Waxman’s Barbuto — the friendship evolved into a partnership.

Established in March 2017, Maple & Rose offers Simple Suppers, which I was privileged to try as their first client. Unlike most meal kits, Simple Suppers are not subscription-based, and offer quick and easy prepared rustic meals. Starting at $70 for two servings, supper consists of a salad, an entrée, a side, and dessert. Offered only Wednesday to Saturday, delivery is included and available from east of the Bronx River Parkway and south of the 287.

Simple Supper Package

Panna Cotta

Influenced primarily by simple Italian and French cuisine, they source directly from New York farms and local artisans. Expect dishes such as roasted beets with shaved fennel, arugula, goat cheese, hazelnut and sherry vinaigrette; lemon and herb Sardinian couscous; and chickpea stew with carrot, Swiss chard, caraway, and labneh. Desserts include potted tiramisu, vanilla bean panna cotta, and chocolate pot de crème.

Additionally, Maple & Rose is a full-service catering business throughout the county. From brunch to lunch to dinner, Maple & Rose custom designs menus for private events.

Currently, they are exploring weekly specials and kids offerings, as well as opening a café space by Spring 2018. For now though? They celebrate with a launch party on Saturday, May 6th.
