Local, Organic Alternatives to Guilty Pleasure Indulgences

As defined by Merriam-Webster, the noun “greenwashing” means “expressions of environmentalist concerns, especially as a cover for products, policies, or activities.” The word’s origins are the combination of “green” + “brainwashing.” And, though greenwashing usually refers to multinationals—who make a habit of ecological crime—that’s not what Trending will discuss this month. Instead, we’ll be talking about how you personally greenwash your crimes, specifically, when those crimes involve your indulgence in vices. Maybe you have issues with self-control. We don’t judge. Here’s how to greenwash those vices so squeaky-clean that you can even mention them in yoga! PS: We award extra points for greenwashing twofers and threefers and superbonus points go to products made in Brooklyn.
