Calling all jazz lovers! Mount Kisco’s Jazz on Main is an upbeat jazz club with a Mediterranean-inspired menu and tempting cocktails.
Love a good jazz club? In Westchester, look no further than Jazz on Main in Mount Kisco. After opening its doors earlier in 2022, the venue offers lavish cocktails, Mediterranean cuisine, and live music. The intimate dining area and sizable bar seats up to 55 people. Three nights a week, guests will find their chairs gravitating towards the stage to appreciate that evening’s music.
After 20 years of dreaming this day would come, Shaul Dover, Jazz on Main’s owner, greets each customer with open arms. The jazz club is the product of ideas collected over the years, months of searching for the perfect location, and decades of passion and preparation that finally came together.
“For me, it was about creating an immersive experience, a place where all the senses come together into one experience. The food taste, the smell, the visuals, lighting, sounds…it all comes together in one big package,” shares Dover.
Back in the ’90s, Dover made his way up from the Big Apple to Katonah with his wife and kids. Once his children were in middle school, their musical abilities began to shine through. “My son started a band and he came to me and asked, ‘Dad can you record us?’,” recalls Dover. His response, “I’ll give it a shot.”
As he got more involved, Dover gradually acquired an assortment of recording gear and put himself through two years of sound engineering school. Soon after, he opened a recording studio in Katonah called Sweatshop Studios. Through the studio, Dover helped musicians make their artistic visions become realities.
Following years of working with big names and local talents, Dover’s desire to establish his own project only seemed to grow. “If I’m not going to do it by myself all the way, it’s not going to happen,” Dover explains. In regard to his decision to open Jazz on Main, he notes, “This isn’t something I did because I need to make a living. I’m doing it because of the love for the music, for the jazz, for the food. I am doing it for myself.”
It’s one thing to host a musician once or twice a week to act as background music for the guests, but what Dover wanted to execute was in a whole other ballpark. He incorporated his love of music and sound engineering skills to build a space where the acoustics are superior, allowing the musicians to excel. “As a sound engineer, the most important thing for me is the sound,” explains.
Jazz on Main is inspired by the golden age of jazz. It’s a place that resembles the swanky jazz clubs in Manhattan but resides in our own backyard. Plus, the club supplies Mount Kisco and the surrounding neighborhoods with some much-needed nightlife. Dover notes that, prior to the club’s opening, everyone in town seemed to hit the hay around 8 p.m.

The sound equipment sits in the back of the restaurant, behind the bar, where Dover posts up during the performances to make sure everything runs smoothly.
As for the restaurant’s hours, it’s open Tuesday to Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to closing. “We’re open if someone is there. It could be 10 o’clock at night or 1 o’clock in the morning,” he says.
Jazz on Main has a number of shows lined up for the upcoming months, so be sure to check out the website for more information.
