Since its opening in Scarsdale at the end of February, Jackie B’s has been giving local a new place to go for American fare. Owner Scott Weishausen, who owns Giannoni’s Deli next door, jumped at the chance to open the tavern when his landlord offered him the adjacent space. “I’ve always wanted to open a restaurant. We wanted it to be a community centered place. A lot of the workers from the nearby [businesses] will come by after they close for drinks and a bite,” says Weishausen.
At Jackie B’s many of the patrons are repeat customers who come for classic, American favorites like the Jackie B burger, which is topped with bacon, caramelized onions, avocado and sharp cheddar. Other popular items include nachos with pulled pork, chicken, or brisket; the crispy chicken sandwich with grilled jalapeños; Gulf shrimp lettuce wraps with sweet chili and pickled carrots; and dinner-sized salads.
To wash it all down, check out one of the cocktails, most of which are named for a real or fictional famous Jackie. The Jackie Moon has a bubbly, tropical flare with rum, pineapple juice, pomegranate juice, and a splash of Champagne, while the Jackie Mason is a Bloody Mary with bacon and house-made barbecue sauce.
The emphasis on Jacks and Jackies also extends to the walls. Framed black-and-white photos of famous faces, including Jack Nicholson and Jackie Kennedy, line the room. One puzzling photo features Charlie Chaplin and a little boy who grew up to play an Uncle in a very famous family in the 60s. Think you know who it is? You’ll have to head to Jackie B’s to find out if you’re right.
