Iron Vine Is Bringing Delicious Beer Cocktails to Peekskill With New Belgium

Yes, we said “beer cocktails.” Light and summery, these craft creations are a perfect pairing for brunch or dinner.

We love beer and we love cocktails, but as much as we’ve heard about the trend, we were a little trepidatious to try beer cocktails. We were also, as it turns out, fools.

Colorado craft beer maker New Belgium Brewing Company (NB), known for its flagship Fat Tire Amber Ale and Voodoo Ranger IPA, has teamed up with Iron Vine in Peekskill for an exclusive run this month that’s not to be missed.

All month long, Iron Vine will be offering three craft cocktails made with liquor, mixers, and New Belgium’s signature beers — plus, one cocktail that will be exclusive to Iron Vine through the duration of the event.

Starting strong, the Muralita is a spin on a traditional margarita, made with NB’s Mural Fresca — sort of an agua fresca beer made with watermelon, lime, and hibiscus — along with tequila, agave, and lime juice. It’s light, fruit-forward, and seamlessly blends the Mural into the flavor profile of a classic margarita.

The Passion Fruit Hurricane mixes traditional light and dark rums with lime and orange juices, simple syrup, and a NB Passion Fruit Kolsch. The light and fruity, slightly sour kolsch style pairs perfectly with this island beverage.

Think fruit punch with a light beeriness and carbonation. The kolsch itself is only 4.3% ABV, but we could easily have put away five or six of these, so pace yourself.

Aperol, Prosecco, and orange juice already sounds like a fun brunch choice, but the addition of an NB Juicy Haze IPA topper to the Hazy Spritz adds a smoothness and drinkability to what would otherwise be a pumped-up mimosa. The result is a citrus spritzer with a definite kick, but not too strong or too sweet — a danger with any orange juice cocktail.

Bourbon, orange bitters, and a simple syrup are all we need for a good time, but substituting Fat Tire for a splash of water as the topper to this temptation put us over the moon. The light carbonation and subtle fruit notes (luxardo cherry garnish for the win) turn what could otherwise be a very heavy evening drink into a light and summery afternoon delight.

Get all four cocktails — including the exclusive Muralita — at Iron Vine through the end of the month.
