With its new evening hours, the Rye eatery known for its granola parfaits and lattes wants to be your go-to spot for late-night bites.
Avocado toast, coffee, smoothies, breakfast burritos, and granola parfaits in the morning; sandwiches, bowls, and salads for lunch. That’s what The Granola Bar in Rye has been a go-to spot for since co-owners Julie Mountain and Dana Noorily opened in 2017 (there are four other locations in Westport, Fairfield, Greenwich, and Stamford, plus a food truck).
As of the second week of March however, the duo debuted a rebrand of the Rye location, with new décor, evening hours, a full bar, a nighttime menu with lots of shareable plates, and a brunch menu (served daily). The breakfast and lunch menu remains.
“Our mission is to give Rye the food and beverages they want — all day — in a beautiful environment with a warm, community feel,” says co-owner Julie Mountain. “Start your day with a latte and breakfast sandwich and end it with a [Pat LaFrieda] smashburger and espresso martini.”
The new space is reminiscent of a fashionable NYC eatery, with half-circle banquette seating, gold-rimmed oval mirrors, and a “wall of moss” that makes for an Insta-worthy background.
The evening menu includes truffle honey ricotta toast, deviled eggs with crispy shallot and trout roe, crispy Korea-style wings, horseradish-crusted salmon, and not-to-miss pappardelle with sautéed cremini mushrooms, black truffle, and Parmesan.
Among the eight signature craft cocktails are The Rose (campari, carpano antica, strawberry, lime, yuzu, Prosecco) and The Sophia (Beefeater gin, blackberry, mint, lime).
The Granola Bar has origins back to 2010 when the former stay-at-home-moms started a side gig of creating gourmet granola that transformed into a health-minded breakfast-and-lunch destination. Says Noorily, “…Whether it’s a date night, a quick drink and snack after the train ride, or girls’ night out, we set out to design a place with a unique energy all its own, the kind of place you can’t wait to tell your friends about.”
