Renowned Chef Peter Kelly is now the culinary director of Apropos Restaurant at Abbey Inn & Spa (900 Fort Hill Rd, Peekskill; 914.739.3546). Adrian Glaza is the new executive chef replacing Danielle Ceruzzi. Along with a dining room revitalization and an expanded wine selection, the menu has been overhauled to include new dishes, such as tuna carpaccio with Hudson Valley foie gras and pickled shallots; Hudson Valley duckling with green peppercorns and hakurei turnips; and Murray’s Chicken with savory bread pudding, agrodolce, and haricots verts. He will also oversee catering operations. Wedding events in the Highlands Ballroom in the former church of the Convent of St. Mary can accommodate up to 120 people. Kelly continues to own and operate X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers, though he recently shuttered Restaurant X and Bully Boy Bar in Congers after 27 years.
Taco specialist Taconah Cantina (108 N County Shopping Center, Goldens Bridge; 914.488.6968) has debuted serving 16 varieties of tacos on grilled corn tortillas. Also on the menu: flour tortilla burritos or quesadillas served with sweet potato fries, and myriad bowls (e.g., jackfruit carnitas, chorizo, Baja fish, marinated shrimp).
Peter’s Steakhouse (1 Mill Rd, Eastchester; 914.202.7740), serving 28-day dry-aged cuts, has opened in Westchester Meat Market’s former space. On the menu: a raw bar, blackened swordfish, truffle fettuccine, and rack of lamb.
From the owner of Irish pub Jack’s Bar & Restaurant in Eastchester comes Jill’s Bar & Restaurant (100 Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck; 914.341.1776), a casual eatery located where Baby Duke’s Kitchen was. On the New European menu are dishes such as house labneh and greens, Spanish octopus with white bean purée and Kalamata olives, a trio of flatbreads, ahi tuna bowl, Guinness-braised beef short ribs, and Chilean sea bass.
The Kitchen @ The Mills (222 Lake Ave, Yonkers; 914.207.1765), part of the repurposed historic Alexander Carpet Mills warehouse complex, is a new café serving paninis, subs, pizza, quesadillas, and Illy coffee.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, with 60-plus U.S. locations and more than 600 internationally, has debuted its first county location (913 Central Ave, Scarsdale; 914.215.5885).
Alba’s Restaurant (400 N Main St, Port Chester; 914.937.2236), with a menu of primarily Northern Italian specialties, is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
