The Must-Read Foodie News From Westchester’s Dining Scene in July

Northern Italian dishes, empanadas with delicious flavors, a new tiki bar, and more dining updates in Westchester.

In the space that had been La Riserva for more than 30 years is now Torcello Ristorante Italiano (2382 Boston Post Rd, Larchmont; 914.833.1118; torcellolarchmont.com), opened by Imer Rraci and Chef Avni Brahimaj. The menu is predominately Northern Italian (Torcello is a little island north of Venice), featuring dishes such as roasted artichokes Roman style, eggplant rollatini, fig flatbread, a baby arugula salad with red and golden beets; fresh pastas such as rigatoni Bolognese and pappardelle Milanzane with tomatoes and eggplant; and a shell steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms (below).

Paraguay-native Ricardo Saldivar specializes in baked empanadas at the new El Artesano Empanadas (911 N Broadway, White Plains; 914.609.6823; artesanoempanadas.com). On the menu: empanadas with shredded meat and caramelized onion; hearts of palm, mozzarella, mascarpone, and Swiss; diced bacon, eggs, mozzarella, and white American cheese; ground beef, onions, and hard-boiled eggs.

Expected to have opened by press time is Tiki Beach (1 Playland Pkwy, Rye; 914.305.3518) in the space that formerly housed Charley’s Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar. Also expected to have debuted by press time is Matanzas Cuban Café (17 E Hartsdale Ave, Hartsdale; matanzascubancafe.com) in the location where Kyo Sushi was.

Stamford-based farm-to-table market and home-delivery service, Mike’s Organic has opened a retail location in Greenwich (600 E Putnam Ave, Cos Cob; 203.274.6495; mikesorganic.com). The small-format grocery store’s mission is to reinvent food shopping through careful product curation and interactive experiences (e.g., sheep shearing, waffle making, farmer and baby cow meet-and-greets). Offerings include local produce and baked goods, pastured meats and eggs, grass-fed dairy, wild fish, pantry selections, and vegan and gluten-free options. The company offers same-day delivery in the Greenwich area on weekdays and next-day delivery in Fairfield and Westchester.
