A Foodie’s Guide to Dining in White Plains for a Day

Eat and drink your way through White Plains from morning to night at these top coffee shops and restaurants in Westchester County.

To be a foodie in White Plains is no difficult task. With almost 10 square miles of space, each area in the city has its own goodies to try out. Spend the day and you may never want to leave!

Coffee

There is no better way to start off a jam-packed day of eating as a foodie in White Plains than with a big cup of coffee, and at Araras Coffee & More, specialty drinks are modeled on traditional Brazilian treats. Taste the bridageiro latte: espresso with chocolate syrup, whipped crème, and sprinkles; or a white gold bonbon: espresso topped with condensed milk and whipped crème.

Looking for a more traditional caffeine hit? Hastings Tea & Coffee offers frosty lattes and mochas, as well as amazing tea blends, like the peach green tea lemonade or a foggy London: earl grey tea topped with vanilla cream.

Breakfast

After your coffee fix, you are ready to get started on your foodie experience in White Plains. Roosters Market may not sound like your typical breakfast spot, but their hungry man wedge is a must. With three eggs, two hash browns, cheese, and bacon, we can’t think of a better way to start the day. If that sounds a little much (which it never should), go for classic French toast or chocolate chip pancakes.

Feeling on the healthier side? Stop by Bluestone Lane, located in The Westchester, for a feel-good meal. The updated brunch menu features an amazing array of avocado toast options, with the “lot” being a standout: tomatoes, feta, prosciutto, and chili flakes atop traditional avocado toast. Feeling adventurous? Check out the toast with vegemite and you may find yourself a new snack. (Hint: If you need another coffee to fuel this long journey, don’t be afraid to try a dirty chai.)

Lunch

As if breakfast wasn’t big enough, it’s time to make room for lunch. Chen’s Poke brings high-quality fish right to Westchester with customizable bowls. Big fan of tuna? Try the tuna lover bowl, featuring ahi, spicy, and albacore tuna with a multitude of toppings.

Another adored staple for foodies in White Plains, Walter’s Hot Dogs has been filling buns and bellies for more than 100 years, and you just can’t go wrong with the double dog, fries, and classic mustard with relish. (Pair it with a decadent milkshake and thank us later.)

If you want to save your appetite for dinner, Big Apple Smoothie has you covered. With unique blends like “My Cousin Vinny” (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and orange sherbet) and “Moonlight Mango,” a smoothie with mango, peaches, bananas, and orange sherbet, you can expect a lot, and you’ll get it.

Dinner

As if we haven’t eaten enough today, it’s the big finale: a multicourse meal. For American fare and a good time, Lilly’s will not disappoint foodies in White Plains. Start off with decadent mac ‘n’ cheese, fresh tuna tartare, or feta dip. Lilly’s unique pizzas are also a must-try. Consider the Bee Sting with soppressata, chili oil, honey, and mozzarella, or perhaps an entrée of snapper with potato puree. Truffle fries and Brussel sprouts are the perfect sides.

The rooftop at Salsa Picante is another solid option for dinner. Start off with tropical guacamole made with pineapple and mango and a pina colada to set the mood. Power on to tostadas al pastor, or one of the many taco options: lengua, fish, shrimp, and more.

Dessert

You can’t finish any meal without something sweet, and that is a fact! Since opening in 2021, Ice Cream Social has been satisfying Westchester’s sweet tooth with town-themed sundaes and unique flavors like vegan brownie batter ice cream and refreshing mango sorbet.

For a different dessert, try T-Swirl Crepe. From lychee to chocolate truffles, the combo of scrumptious ingredients brings a unique spin to traditional crepes.

Nightlife

We can’t imagine a better way to finish off your day than with a cocktail. Creative and unique concoctions take the spotlight at The Bling Pig of Westchester, with names like the Nutcracker, Déjà vu, Banana Clip, or The Grinch. (Pro tip: Charcuterie boards make a great late-night snack.)

Newcomer Archie Grand is making some of the fanciest cocktails in town. If you’re following the current espresso martini TikTok craze, you’ll love AG’s version, topped with a take-off on crème brûlée. The Good Ol’ Smokey is also sure to steal the show, as your glass bathes in smoke.
