Savor charcuterie and bar snacks in Peekskill, wood-roasted dishes in Scarsdale, and Italian favorites in Larchmont in time for summer.

Flights Bar has shuttered, and in its place is 45-seat The Raconteur Bar & Kitchen (10 Marble Ave, Pleasantville; 914.769.4040; theraconteurbar.com). The concept is cheese and charcuterie, bar snacks (pimento cheese with hot pepper jelly and Saltines), and small plates (ancho-rubbed bacon) alongside a spirit-focused beverage program, including Spanish-style gin goblets and a vintage absinthe fountain. Chef/owner Michael Boulos is a Croton-on-Hudson native who has a restaurant-consulting business, Hudson River Hospitality.

The antithesis of a sports bar, Pleasantville’s new libations lounge, The Raconteur Bar & Kitchen, offers specialty cocktails using first-rate liquors, botanical ingredients, and distinctive flavor profiles. Sample such drinks as the Tokyo Gin & Soda (left), with Suntory Roku Gin, Fevertree yuzu-lime soda, pink peppercorn, apple blossom, and lime, and the On Walden Frond (right), with Botanist Gin, muddled lemon and cucumber, and a toasted fennel seed rim. sweetgreen (480 N Bedford Rd, Ste D-5, Chappaqua; sweetgreen.com) has debuted its second county location (the first opened in Scarsdale’s Vernon Hills Shopping Center in March). The 44-seat-indoor/16-seat-outdoor plant-forward restaurant is part of a fast-casual salad-and-grain-bowl chain that uses ingredients such as locally sourced greens and cage-free and certified-organic eggs.

Expected to have opened by press time is the Morris Park Inn (Rose Hill Shopping Center, 652 Columbus Ave, Thornwood; morrisparkinnthornwood.com), a sports bar in the space that previously held Skratch. On offer: a giant soft pretzel, half-pound BYO burgers, wraps and sandwiches, shrimp scampi, baby back ribs, panko-crusted fish ’n’ chips, and slow-roasted pork shoulder. An original location has been open in the Bronx since December 2019.

Via Forno: Wood Fired Cucina, Vinoteca, and Bar (2 Garth Rd, Scarsdale; 914.556.6464; viafornopizza.com) has revamped its kitchen with the addition of a second wood-fired oven. As a result, they’ve added more wood-roasted dishes, including tricolored cauliflower with Greek yogurt, broccoli rabe with fresh garlic and cherry tomatoes, spicy Calabrian wings, and mussels Amalfi.

Specializing in Peruvian ice cream and açai bowls is Carolina’s Home Made Ice Cream (1099 N Division St, Peekskill; 914.788.1450; carolinasicecreamny.com). Try such ice cream flavors as guanabana (with a flavor that’s a cross between pineapple and papaya) and lucuma, a Peruvian fruit with a maple or caramel-like taste.

After opening Christopher’s by Chef Joe in October of 2020 as primarily a steak-and-seafood restaurant, owner/chef Joe Giordano relaunched this spring as an Italian restaurant, Giordano’s (2382 Boston Post Rd, Larchmont; 914.787.8749; giordanos914.com).
