Eater Alert: Mambo For Haiti

Save this date! You all might have read about my paean to the preposterous Baron Ambrosia–well, you can meet him in person in all of his leering purple glamour. On March 11 (7 pm to Midnight), the Baron will be hosting a Mambo for Haiti right in New Rochelle at Don Coqui, with all proceeds going to toward Doctors Without Borders. There will be a $20 collection at the door, but the evening seems cheap at a single Jackson– we’re talking salsa by legend Papo Pepin rocking out the big space with drop-in guests, the Baron projecting an episode of his addictive program on Bronxnet, and loads of sangria and delicious Puerto Rican dishes from Don Cocqui’s lovely and personable Chef Stephanie Landis. Plus, you know it’s the right thing to do, so you might as well dance and have fun doing it. More later…
