Dog Parks, Nachos, and Yoga

The co-owner of Lulu Cake Boutique in Scarsdale, Jay Muse, dishes on his favorite Westchester things.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers. The best thing to happen for movie buffs since Jacob Burns.

Brussels-sprouts pizza at Burrata Wood Fired Pizza in Eastchester. Its perfectly charred crust, pancetta, pecorino, and cognac onions would turn any Brussels-sprouts hater into a fan.

Chocolate chip skillet cookie at Restaurant North in Armonk. It takes Mrs. Fields to a whole new level.

Dog park at Ward Acres in New Rochelle. What’s not to like about fenced-in nature walks for man’s best friend?

Eat. Drink. Post. The best resource for Westchester foodies, and God bless blogger Julia Sexton for sifting out the blah and making the County food scene much more navigable for the rest of us.

Farmhouse salad at Polpettina in Eastchester, because who doesn’t like popcorn in their salad?

Garden accessories at The Yellow Monkey in Cross River. One-of-a kind finds you won’t see anywhere else.

Hudson River Museum. The planetarium show is phenomenal!

Ice skating at Hommocks Park Ice Rink in Larchmont. They even offer ice-skating lessons for the uncoordinated.

Jelly donuts at Topps Bakery in Bronxville. I can eat a whole box of these suckers; the generous coating of sugar pairs perfectly with tart jam.

Kobe burger at Chat 19 in Larchmont because it’s simple, cheap, and easy to eat at the bar when they are (usually) busy.

Lemon basil pie by DoughNation. You will stalk this pizza truck after one bite.

Marrow at Fortina in Armonk is perfectly roasted, soft, fatty, and oh so flavorful.

Nachos with pulled pork at Growlers Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe because, if you’re going to have a heart attack, why not do it in style?

Omakase at Sushi Nanase in White Plains will transport you to Tokyo without having to leave Westchester County.

Pottery Barn in the Westchester Mall. Their complimentary interior design services go beyond selecting furniture; they even help you with window treatments and paint-color selection.

Quinoa salad at Whole Foods in Yonkers. It’s loaded with wheat berries, cranberries, almonds, and a generous squeeze of lemon juice; you just know you’re being good to your body when eating this.

Rosedale Nursery in Hawthorne. For those without a green thumb, an on-staff horticulturist will make certain your investment lasts more than a week.

SoulCycle in Scarsdale. Awesome themed classes.

Txakoli wine is my favorite: a dry, white bubbly available at Zachys Wine & Liquor in Scarsdale. Ask for Javier, the wine guru in the Spanish spirits section; he’ll point you in the right direction.

Union Church’s Matisse & Chagall  stained-glass windows in Pocantico Hills. Who would guess that this unassuming church in Westchester County is home to Matisse’s last work of art?

Victorinox Swiss Army store in The Westchester. Watches and knives galore!

Wasabi peas covered in white chocolate by Hudson Chocolates. Or anything by Hudson Chocolates.

X2O’s aged and grilled cowboy rib-eye for two.  It’s better than any steak I’ve had in any steakhouse.

Yoga Haven in Tuckahoe. User-friendly yoga without the attitude—just how it should be.

ZáZá Italian Kitchen’s veal parmesan. It’s not printed on the menu; you have to ask for it. Tell them Jay sent you.
