A tiki bar near Playland, a Colombian eatery in Peekskill, an e-bakery with local roots, and more make the month delicious.
Dock-and-dine, specialty drinks, and live music are part of the new 40-seat (plus 320 outside!) seafood eatery Charley’s Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar (1 Playland Pkwy, Rye; 914.305.3518). Adjacent to Playland, the menu offers, among other things, baked clams, oysters, jumbo fried shrimp, whole Maine lobsters, swordfish, and halibut, in addition to prime views of the Sound.
Serving traditional Colombian cuisine, El Rincon Colombiano (900 Main St, Peekskill; 914.402.1958) opened in late March in the former Kurzhals Coffee space (the coffee shop is moving to a new location, on North Division St) in the Central Market building.
Arthur Avenue has renewed the piazza-style alfresco dining initiative, Piazza di Belmont, which originally launched in the summer of 2020. On weekend nights through the fall, Arthur Avenue is closed to vehicular traffic from East 188th St to Crescent Ave 6 p.m.–10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 1 p.m.–9 p.m. on Sundays. Zero Otto Nove, Mario’s Restaurant, Enzo’s of Arthur Avenue, and Ann & Tony’s are among the many eateries featured. The streets will remain open during normal business hours throughout the week.
Matthew Karp, the former chef/co-owner of Plates, in Larchmont (now Billy & Pete’s Social), is creating artisan-level baked goods at his Dough on the Go! (914.263.1736), an e-bakery specializing in bagels, croissants, doughnuts, and sourdough bread.
