Come for the cheese, stay for the provisions, the classes, and the community events. Bloomy Cheese & Provisions, which opened in November 2022, is a store that reflects owner Jessica Galen’s love and knowledge of cheese and her commitment to products that share her ethos.
“Dobbs Ferry is a small village and folks who live here, whether they’ve been here forever or are more recent arrivals, have been telling me they want to support small-scale producers, local agriculture, and have great culinary experiences close to home,” says Galen.
There’s a curated selection of cheese: Both larger format, to be cut in the store, and prepackaged ones. Seasonality is front and center; American and European cheeses are represented equally; and Galen is looking to expand beyond those borders into cheese from lesser-known regions.
Bloomy has fast made itself a go-to store for specialty groceries and home goods, including cheese-adjacent items, such as cutting boards, knives, and serving dishes. Galen is dedicated to carrying items from small companies, with an emphasis on women-owned, BIPOC-owned, and LGBTQ-owned businesses.
