Okay, so a scroll over Epicurious’s handy seasonal ingredient map notes that we’re still mired in the root veg months (and the New York State Agricultural Harvest Calendar has no real quibbles with that assessment), I’ll be battling Cold and Flu season with C from pretty blood oranges. Sure these things come from the sunshine states of California and Florida, but these orbs are to navel oranges what Anna Magnani is to Anita Bryant. We’re talking tart, spicy, in-your-face and carnal; no wonder that it’s a blood orange getting luridly juiced in the opening credits of Dexter.
