Apple Brussels Sprouts Salad from Café Deux
307 Halstead Ave, Harrison; 914.920-4110
When a slight chill hits the air, you think apples, cinnamon, and dough, but what about switching up your salad? Salads can be seasonal, too, like this apple and Brussels sprouts salad from Charlotte and Carrie Denoyer, the sisters who own Café Deux, the charming French-American bistro and café in the heart of Harrison.
“Each bite brings a surprising flavor,” Carrie says. Available for fall, the salad is filled with spicy chicory, endive, frisée, radicchio, cucumber, nutty sesame seeds, shiso (a minty herb), togarashi (chili pepper powder), tart-sweet pomegranate arils, and creamy cumin-lime yogurt vinaigrette (with caramelized apple puree!), along with thinly sliced Honeycrisp red and Granny Smith green apples and smoky roasted Brussels. This all-day restaurant is a good stop for food and “coffee to cocktails” for seasonal and year-round favorites.
