5 Muffins Worth Waking Up For This Weekend

Nutella Muffin at Cooked & Co.

128 Garth Rd, Scarsdale; 914.205.3939

Arguably the most famous muffin on this list, customers would line up on weekends to score one of these behemoths stuffed with gobs of Nutella. Now that Cooked & Co. has expanded, the lines are less of an issue but the muffins are every bit as moist and delicious, topped with plenty of crunchy, hazelnut streusel.

Blueberry Muffin at The Kneaded Bread

181 N Main St, Port Chester; 914.937.9489

One of the winners of our 2017 blueberry muffin taste test, these look-like-homemade muffins don’t have any bells and whistles to mask the basic facts: They’re fluffy, tender, just sweet enough, and chock-full of big, bursting berries.

Is there anything more beautiful?!

Cruffin at Chantilly Patisserie

135 Parkway Rd, Bronxville; 914.771.9400

If you were a fan of the cronut, we suspect you’ll also love Chantilly Patisserie’s cruffin — flaky, buttery croissant dough shaped into a muffin and filled with creams and custards. (Much like the cronut, we’d recommend you call ahead and get there early.) The flavors change frequently, but expect playful options like red velvet, peanut butter and jelly, Girl Scout cookie-inspired Samoa, cookie dough, and Key lime.

Strawberry Muffin at By the Way Bakery

574 Warburton Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson; 914.478.0555

Blueberries aren’t the only fruit that makes an A+ muffin. At By the Way, they’re giving seasonal strawberries top billing in a simple, dairy- and gluten-free muffin with a caramelized, coarse-sugar-sprinkled top.

Kale and Goat Cheese Muffin at Maple & Rose

690 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck; 914.222.4151

Here’s a hot take: savory muffins are kind of delicious. Case in point: this feel-good, kale-flecked muffin with a core of smooth, tangy goat cheese. Served warm with flaky sea salt and a drizzle of buttery olive oil, we dare you not to like it.
