A traditional center hall Colonial in Purchase was redesigned to evoke a Manhattan loft lifestyle. “The clients wanted a clean, spacious kitchen conducive to entertaining,” says designer Martin Tratt. “I chose modern elements like stainless steel, frosted glass, and dark hardwood floors that complimented the existing design. The large two-inch honed Carrara countertop serves as a perfect space for buffet dining while the trough sink anchoring the island is also used for chilling wine and beverages. The custom bespoke cabinetry mixed with these modern elements brought the clients vision to life.” The Phillip Starck chairs are from Design Within Reach; the backsplash is micro-mosaic Carrera marble; and the light fixtures are the clients’ own.
