Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, which brings together nearly 200 restaurants throughout Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Columbia, and Ulster Counties, kicks off March 10th and runs through the 23rd. Westchester, we’re proud to say, lays claim to more than half of the options, all of which will offer three-course, prix fixe dinners for $29.95 and lunches for $20.95.

It’s all organized by The Valley Table Magazine and, beside getting butts in the seats at participating restaurants, aims to shine light on the huge farm-to-table and sustainable dining movement sweeping through the Hudson Valley. That’s not to say these are all farm-to-table restaurants (a few of them are), but most have joined the farm-to-table bandwagon by sourcing locally for one item or another. Permission to guiltlessly enjoy the three phenomenally priced courses granted.
Make your way down the list of restaurants and you’ll notice everything from high-end staples like 42 the Restaurant, X2O, MP Taverna, Benjamin’s Steakhouse, and Crabtree’s Kittle House, to newer spots, like Rivermarket Bar and Kitchen in Tarrytown and The Parlor in Dobbs Ferry. Then there are, of course, the neighborhood staples, like Briar’s in Briarcliff Manor, Chat American Grill in Scarsdale, and Gaucho Grill in White Plains, plus the untouchables for foreign cuisine, like La Cremaillere in Bedford (French), Mima Vinoteca in Irvington (Italian), and Sofrito in White Plains (Spanish).
While there are more than enough options for you here in Westchester, if you’re looking to branch out and really put the Hudson Valley in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, we’d recommend trying Bocuse Restaurant at the CIA in Hyde Park for French, or Swift at the Roundhouse at Beacon Falls in Beacon for true farm-to-table fare.
It’s a great crop of restaurants this year no matter how you slice it, and it’s great for the local economy, too. According to the publisher of Valley Table, Janet Crenshaw, the Hudson Valley’s restaurants grossed over $791 million last year—a considerable chunk of change that reflects the Hudson Valley’s draw as a formidable dining destination.
