Who We Are
Elizabeth Seton Children’s is a pioneering provider of care, education and hope for children with some of the most challenging medical conditions any person can face. Featuring the largest residential medical center of its kind in the United States, we change lives, one child at a time. We create possibilities like no other place. And we are forever inspired by the dignity, determination and grace of those we serve.
What We Do
Elizabeth Seton Children’s encompasses:
– Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center, located in Yonkers, which is the largest specialty, long-term care center of its kind in the country.
– Elizabeth Seton Children’s School, which offers individualized special education to children with medically complex conditions in both our residential medical center in Yonkers and in our community-based setting in White Plains.
– Elizabeth Seton Children’s Rehabilitation Center, located in White Plains, which offers physical, occupational and speech therapies along with medical specialties and care coordination services.
– All the organizations in this non-profit family are supported by our philanthropic arm, Elizabeth Seton Children’s Foundation.
How We Are Different
With 35 years of success, we are a national leader in serving children with deeply complex medical conditions because we provide the entire around-the-clock continuum of medical, educational and therapeutic services. This means these children can do more than survive – they thrive and can pursue a full life. They have the right to safely become adults.
Our Young Adult Center
Our young adult center will be the first of its kind, freestanding facility designed to care for young adults with complex medical needs. Located in White Plains, adjacent to our Elizabeth Seton Children’s Rehabilitation Center and Elizabeth Seton Children’s School, it is intended to be a permanent extension of our mission-centric programming – expanding both the footprint and continuum of our long-term care model.
Our $118 million, 96-bed, nursing home will be specially designed with our young adults’ needs and interests in mind. Here, we will offer an array of services: 24-hour skilled nursing, respiratory and medical care, rehabilitation therapies, palliative care, social work, spiritual care, nutrition, on-site specialty clinics and more. We will offer social engagement, sensory-enhancing activities, physical education and expressive movement, as well as hands-on experiences in technology, the arts and music, life skills, cooking and horticulture.
This pioneering facility will be an international model and research hub for innovative best practices in caring for young adults who have survived their childhood illnesses – reaching adulthood for the first time in history. It is slated to open in 2025.
For those who want to have an impact on a child’s life and create a future filled with hope and possibilities, this is the place to give.
