Monique Brideau: Abstract Collage
July 1 - September 30Free
An exhibition of the artist’s collages. Several of these works are inspired by landscape and living in the Hudson Valley. These abstract works are created from deconstructing and reassembling many pieces of old works on paper from Brideau’s art school years. The works include oil on primed paper, drawings, etchings and lithographs. Leftover borders from printmaking are used for adding watercolor, pencil and marker drawings that are incorporated into the collage. Brideau is passionate about this process because there is no waste. By using only her own pieces, she seeks to give her old art new life. This repurposed art develops into a stronger body of work with reverence to the artist’s creative journey.
