Tuesday, May 14th at 7:30 PM – The War that Killed Achilles by Caroline Alexander

Bestselling author Caroline Alexander has taken apart a narrative we think we know and put it back together in a way that lets us see its true power. In the process, she reveals the intended theme of Homer’s masterwork—the tragic lessons of war and its enduring devastation.

Tuesday, June 11th at 7:30 PM – American Dialogue by Joseph Ellis

The story of history is a ceaseless conversation between past and present, and in American Dialogue, Joseph J. Ellis focuses the conversation on the often-asked question, “What would the Founding Fathers think?”

Thursday, July 11th at 7:30 PM – April 1865 by Jay Winik

One month in 1865 witnessed the frenzied fall of Richmond, a daring last-ditch Southern plan for guerrilla warfare, Lee’s harrowing retreat, and Appomattox. It saw Lincoln’s assassination just five days later, a near-successful plot to decapitate the Union government, and finally the start of national reconciliation.

Tuesday, August 13th at 7:30 PM – A Spy Among Friends by Ben Macintyre

Kim Philby was the greatest spy in history, a brilliant and charming man who rose to head Britain’s counterintelligence against the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War—while he was secretly working for the enemy. And nobody thought he knew Philby like Nicholas Elliott, Philby’s best friend and fellow officer in MI6.
