Rainy-Day Fun

D.I.Y. Slime

Skip the trashed kitchen and let the kids go nuts on a rainy day at the new D.I.Y. Slime shop in Larchmont. This genius idea comes courtesy of local mompreneurs Stacey Sarver and Nicole Fiftal, who wanted to create “a fun place for kids to be creative” while scoring points with parents. At D.I.Y. Slime, you get the instructions and ingredients to make slime, including more than 40 varieties with 75 add-ins — everything from gold leaf to cotton-candy scented to glow-in-the-dark pigment.

This defunct Fotomat-turned-accessories-haven gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “shop small.” In the 30 sq. ft. space (not a typo), shoppers can find trendy costume jewelry, handmade bracelets, printed headbands, and purses for women — especially teens and girls. Owner Sarah Stocker Shapiro hand-selects all products for her trendy collection.
