Tabletop Boutique
Breeze
1 King St
Chappaqua
(914) 238-1900; breezegifts.com
After Hillary’s gig traveling the globe concludes and she’s back charming visiting dignitaries and boldfaced names at Old House Lane, she’d do well to add to her to-do list a visit to this charming little tabletop boutique launched by her neighbor, Susan Maher. A former Crate & Barrel manager who studied interior design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Maher appreciates the importance of presentation when it comes to entertaining. So she’s stocked this sweet space, conveniently located right across the street from the gourmet goodies-filled Chappaqua Village Market, with a carefully curated array of pieces much more unique and colorful than standard department-store fare. You and Hillary will find full collections of dinner- and glassware crafted in Portugal by Juliska and in Italy by Vietri, lovely table linens from Le Jacquard Français of France, and sparkling bowls and the like from Annieglass.

Wondering what the heck Chris Burch (Tory’s ex) has been up to? We weren’t either, but, boy, have we gone gaga over the answer: this lifestyle shop that’s heavy on style and color and—unlike his former wife’s offerings—light on the wallet. Pop in here to freshen up and inject a little well-priced whimsy into your home décor with often brightly colored and always well-designed products featuring luxe touches and fresh little details. You’ll find lots of fun accessories to help personalize your lair—crayon-colored, high-gloss trays; au courant ikat dinnerware in lime, chocolate, or crimson; faux fur throws; bright, enameled picture frames; and embroidered pillow covers. Prices rarely exceed $100, and most offerings—from drinking glasses to trays—can be monogrammed. Tory who?

One arty colleague was visibly swooning after a visit to this charming shop: “It is unbelievable,” she says. “It’s difficult to find good frames, but JPocker had a vast variety of styles to choose from. And the quality! Even the antique reproductions looked real.” Plus, the staff has a good eye for matching the frame with the art. All you have to do is tell them the feeling you want to evoke, and they’ll come up with a perfect match. If only life were this easy.

Contemporary Furnishings
City Life Concepts
41 Lawton St, New Rochelle
(914) 278-9190; citylifeconcepts.com
Don and Megan Draper’s swanky new skyscraper pad could have been outfitted entirely from this shop brought to us by a pair of Joneses we’re enjoying keeping up with. When he noticed that a lot of his deliveries were headed for newly trendy New Rochelle high-rises, Harvey Jones, a New York City furniture company CEO, and his wife, Jennifer, launched this small Queen City showroom. Specializing in cool-looking contemporary furnishings, lighting, and accessories that range from classic modern to the most avant-garde (many from Italy), City Life also offers custom design, manufacture, and installation. Check out the new hot-once-more shag rugs and the clear acrylic chair by Pedrali (with velvet cushion, $300; without, $200). For use indoors or out, it comes in such funky transparent hues as smoky mustard and purple.
Auction House
Kenneth Hutter Auctions, Inc.
135 Hoyt Ave, Mamaroneck
(914) 630-7900; hutternewyork.com
The provenance of the county’s newest auction house is as impressive as that of the exquisite 19th- and 20th-century furniture, fine art, silver, porcelain, and jewelry in which it specializes. Its namesake—and principal auctioneer and appraiser—grew up in the auction biz with his father, longtime owner of Manhattan’s Tepper Galleries. Notable recent sales from its monthly auctions include a Louis Vuitton steamer for $10,000 and a 19 -century oil painting by French artist Emile Munier for $55,000. Think there’s treasure in your own attic? Bring your dusty keepsakes in for a complimentary drop-in appraisal any Tuesday between 11 am and 3 pm.
Eco Furnishings & Art
Green Earth Design
516 W Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck
(914) 835-6500
greenearthdesignco.com
Lots of people—your precocious preschooler, perhaps—can make art from paint and paper, but from banana peels, edamame, and coconut shells? That’s what these folks do, and we are absolutely loving the gorgeous—and eco-friendly—results. Each one-of-a-kind piece of art or furniture is handcrafted from organic materials found in the Philippines. Other components used to create the striking wall hangings, sculpture, seating, and end tables include tobacco leaves, nautilus shells, banana bark, wood harvested from 100-year-old fallen trees, rattan, and cocoa twigs. “We believe in regenerating what normally would be considered waste and making incredible art from it,” says owner Mitchell Siegel. Particularly incredible? The oversized mirrors framed with inlays of rice, soybeans, and even peanut shells.
Home Shop
Nest Inspired Home
20 Purchase St, Rye
(914) 921-6378
nestinspiredhome.com
We’re just mad about this Mad Men-esque new home shop for its focus on what co-owner Aly Drew of Harrison calls “classic contemporary” style—blending old with new pieces that are modern in feel but not hyper-trendy. Whatever it’s called, we’re loving the selection of unique furnishings, lighting, and accessories. And how cool is this for the waiting-impaired? Unlike at other décor shops, if you see something you can’t live without, you can take it home with you that same day or have it delivered very soon after. Offerings include elegant furniture and lighting from Oly Studios ($200-$3,500); colorful accents by Jonathan Adler ($38-$390); and such store exclusives as custom-monogrammed pillows, Lucite and fabric benches, and even original Cameroonian Juju headdresses for display as wall art.
Nursery for Annuals and Sculptures
Michael’s Garden
Gate Nursery
146 N Bedford Rd, Mount Kisco
(914) 666-3177
“Michael’s has, hands down, the best selection of unusual annual and perennial flowers,” says Jan Johnsen of Johnsen Landscapes and Pools in Mount Kisco. We agree. It has difficult-to-find tropicals, water plants, herbs, and beautiful garden sculptures (we covet the big Buddhas and re-circulating fountains), and its personal service is fantastic. What more could you ask for?
Kitchen & Bath Fixtures
Consolidated Plumbing

121 Stevens Ave, Mount Vernon
(914) 668-3124
consolidatedplumbingsupply.com
We’ll take a family-owned
and -operated business over a big-box store any day. In business since 1928, Consolidated is a 3,500-square-foot warehouse of a space featuring a variety of major brands as well as rows and rows of bathroom, kitchen, and plumbing supplies. We appreciate its fair prices, the knowledgeable staff, and the way they treat us, even if we’re just shopping for a simple fixture. Value plus service—good luck finding all that at a huge chain.

Just bring in a photo or sketch of the kind of furniture you envision and, four to six weeks later, you can be sitting in your own custom design. (After all, this is how top interior designers do it!)
Custom Window Treatments
Leatherwood Design Company
100 Executive Blvd, Ossining
(914) 373-4151

What we love best about Deborah Cronin’s Leatherwood Design Co. is the sense of teamwork: They don’t just take orders and install the treatments, but walk through the design process with us, so the end product is exactly what we had envisioned.

High-End Florist
Whispering Pines
of Chappaqua Inc.
91 Bedford Rd, Chappaqua
(914) 238-5661
After eight years in business, the floral and landscape design staff at Whispering Pines still loves what they do. “The work comes easily,” says owner Beth Hundgen—whose family has over 50 years in the business—“since we all have a passion for it.” It shows. We particularly fancy their extravagant arrangements, often tucked into vintage urns, old metal milk crates, and other metal, bark, or wood vessels.
