The small town of Bedford maintains a rural yet stately sophistication, scattered with historic colonial homes and grazing horse pastures. The town is comprised of three hamlets—Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, and Katonah—with Metro-North stations located in the latter two.

Many celebrities are associated with the town of Bedford, including Martha Stewart and Richard Gere, owner of the Bedford Post Inn.
