There’s no time like summertime to catch live music. In Westchester, musical happenings abound indoors and out throughout the season. Whether you’re looking for classical sounds in a serene setting or a heart-pumping show with the audience to match, you’ll find just what you’re looking for at these local concerts this summer.

13th Annual Sunset Jazz at Lyndhurst Series

635 South Broadway, Tarrytown

In honor of its 13th anniversary in Tarrytown, Jazz Forum Arts hosts eight Thursday evening concerts at Lyndhurst. The $10 fee provides access to the grounds, and registration is required in advance. The concerts are spread through July and August, and all take place from 6:30-8 p.m.

The 17th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival


If an epic lineup of musicians is what you’re after, look no further than the Pleasantville Music Festival. Presented by Northwell Health, the show takes place on Saturday, July 8, and features a long list of musical acts, including They Might Be Giants, The Allman Betts Band, Sophie B. Hawkins, Allison Ponthier, and many more. Tickets range from $30 to $75, with discounts for seniors and students and free admission for children under 12. Prices increase closer to the show, so it pays to be an early bird here.

23rd Annual Dobbs Ferry Summer Music Series

Waterfront Park, Dobbs Ferry

To celebrate its 23rd anniversary in Dobbs Ferry, Jazz Forum Arts kicks off eight free Wednesday evening concerts at Waterfront Park. The shows run from 6:30-8 p.m., but feel free to stop by beforehand at 5:30 p.m. for Jitterbugs, a free pre-concert program for kids up to 10 years old.

Mark your calendar for June 25! That’s when Rock White Plains takes over downtown for an evening of good times and great songs. The indie artist Alex Cano opens the show, while the Grammy Award-nominated band Plain White T’s leads the event. Advance tickets run $17 per person, and day-of tickets are $20. The event takes place from 6:30-9:30 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m.

Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla

Concerts with a view? That’s what you’ll get when you head over to Kensico Dam Plaza for The Robison Summer Concert Series this season. Hosted by Westchester County Parks, the concerts run from 7-9 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Guests can bring chairs, blankets, and even a picnic for the shows.

Cross County Center offers a slew of free concerts for the Westchester community this summer. Attendees can bring chairs and blankets to set up at The Green, located in the center of the mall near Michael Kors and GUESS. As for what to expect, the musical acts vary from one concert to the next. All shows take place from 6:30-8 p.m. Here’s the upcoming lineup:

  • June 21 – The Wood Vibrations, Atmospheric background to floor stomping dance anthems for the last 70 years

Summer Concerts at the Gazebo (Yorktown)

Jack DeVito Memorial Gazebo, Yorktown Heights

Thank the Yorktown Lions Club and the Yorktown Parks and Recreation Department for this free summer concert series. The shows take place on Sundays at 6 p.m. throughout the season (except for the final concert, which begins at 5 p.m.). In case of rain, the concerts will move to the Yorktown Stage Theater. Attendees can bring chairs to watch the show, and the Lions will have drinks and snacks for sale as well.

New Rochelle hosts a community concert series throughout July and August this summer. Presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, the shows are free to attend and take place on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson Park Band Shell or Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at NewRo Park. Food trucks will be onsite for snacking, so come hungry. There are quite a few acts on the upcoming lineup, so browse these highlights, then head to the website for the full schedule.
