Have you always wanted to be a movie star? Here’s a chance to take your first step in the right direction: Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for extras in White Plains to portray college students in an upcoming HBO film.
The NYC-based casting company is looking for people to portray college football players in addition to the college student extras. The untitled movie will star Al Pacino as former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, who was dismissed from the school in 2011 in connection to the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. Barry Levinson will direct and executive produce the movie in association with Sony Pictures Television.
According to Variety, the official logline for the film reads: “After becoming the winningest coach in college football history, Joe Paterno is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure on behalf of the victims.”
Paterno is known as one of the best college football coaches of all time and is often referred to as JoePa. However, his career halted in 2011 when news of assistant coach Sandusky’s crimes broke and a 2012 report showed his awareness of the situation.
Anyone who is interested in being an extra should contact Grant Wilfley Casting through email providing your name, union status (SAG-AFTRA or non-union), phone number, height, weight, clothing sizes, and a current picture or snapshot to ulp@gycnyc.com. Indicate which role you are interested in by writing it in the subject line of the email.
The scene will be filmed on September 1 in White Plains.
