With three locations opened in Westchester County and over 30 throughout the state, Trader Joe’s will be adding one more store in Yorktown.
The 25-acre property at 3200 Crompond Road is already home to a Lowe’s, an AAA, Slice Pizza, and a Starbucks. In a few months, hopefully by the summer, it will be welcoming a Trader Joe’s, the first of its kind in Yorktown.
According to Trader Joe’s announcement page, the company revealed that a store would be coming to Yorktown on March 24 and said, “We’ve consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in Yorktown, NY.”
The newly-built, 12,500-square-foot building sits on Route 202 off the Taconic State Parkway, which sees roughly 70,000 cars daily, was negotiated and arranged by Robert Delavale of the Breslin Organization. A long-term lease was signed, but details on it have not been publicized as of writing.
Trader Joe’s opened its first store in 1958, as Pronto Markets, in Pasadena, California. Since then, the brand has amassed a total of 530 locations, with 33 of those being in New York State.
The widely beloved establishment sells products ranging from gourmet and organic to vegetarian and one-of-a-kind foods. It also sells alternative grocery items that are made from plant-based materials.
Like always, the new Yorktown store is bound to have some competition, as there is a BJ’s Wholesale across the street. However, with the different types of products that the brand carries, it should do quite well at this location.
Trader Joe’s corporate website has not released any other details on the store, besides that alcohol will not be sold. As the ribbon cutting ceremony gets closer, Trader Joe’s is bound to release more information on this location and the services that it will provide. Until then, enjoy the fact that another Trader Joe’s is coming to Westchester County!
