Aviva Kleiner and Carl Marshall don’t mind at all telling people how they met, though the story has more twists and turns than your average meet-cute.
“Carl and I met online,” Kleiner says. “He was actually my first online date ever. The date went great — as I recall it was a 4-hour dinner.” That was in 2011. Somehow, the two managed to become close friends while also dating other people. By 2013 the couple had grown so close that they gave it a second date and the rest, as they’d say, is browser history.
When it came time to start Googling wedding venues, an Upstate location was a lock. “Both of us have always loved Upstate New York,” says Kleiner. “My mother lives in Woodstock, so it’s a place where we’ve spent a lot of time together.” The couple wanted something upscale but a little rustic, something with plenty of flora and a little whimsy to it. Kleiner, who owns her own marketing agency, knew they’d hit on the right place almost immediately.
“Audrey’s Farmhouse was an amazing venue to work with. Owners Doug and Sally were warm and had a truly amazing vision for the space. We saw their plans for building Audrey’s and we booked the location on specs alone.”
As anyone can see, the finished farmhouse was everything the couple could hope for, with hanging floral arrangements, pastoral centerpieces, and embellishments of toadstools, mossy tufts, and the occasional mischievous gnome guest.
The theme continued into the reception, with classic signature cocktails, assorted homestyle desserts, and a wildflower decorated cake.
