It’s no secret that Bronxville’s Dobbs & Bishop is a destination for cheese lovers, with their knowledgeable staff and incredible assortment of global cheeses. Rare European cheeses may be the draw, but devotees of French Brie and Dutch Gouda will be pleasantly surprised to discover Dobbs’ growing selection of delectable artisanal cheeses and gourmet treats from the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and Upstate New York.
“We are very excited about bringing in small-batch products from creameries and family farms that are closer to home,” says store manager Brenda Cabrera. The shop offers a well-curated assortment of Hudson Valley produce, ranging from biscuits and crackers, honey, jam, and ice cream, as well as Catskills maple syrup.
Things are getting really local this spring. Cabrera, an experienced cook and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, is experimenting with fresh ricotta and Boursin-style cheeses made right on the premises. “More and more of our customers want to be part of the local and sustainable food movement,” she explains. The shop also plans to sell homemade soups, using produce purchased from the Bronxville Farmers’ Market.
