The Petruccelli Isenberg Wedding

April 19, 2009

For the past year Daniel Isenberg has been writing about his upcoming Big Event on his Groom Guy blog at westchestermagazine.com. And here’s the big day!

Both Daniel Isenberg and Dana Petruccelli grew up in White Plains, but never met until mutual friends introduced them in 2006. “We kept running into each other at parties,” Daniel recalls, “as we had so many friends in common.” After a year of dating, Daniel popped the question.

“I’m the cultural arts director at the Boys and Girls Club in Mount Kisco and normally go to work in jeans and sneakers,” he says. “But on the night I proposed, I changed into a suit at work, went home, walked in the door, dropped on one knee and proposed. Dana was so excited, she hopped up, all excited; then called her mom. That night, a group of friends came over to celebrate.”

Over the next year, the couple planned their wedding, with Daniel chronicling all the couple’s activities leading up to their wedding day. While Dana led the way, Daniel played a supporting role in just about everything except the dress and registry selection. (“I did one day and could not do more,” he confesses.)

The couple met with Deacon Dan Pellegrin, a close family friend of Daniel’s, five times to work out the details of their interfaith wedding. “We wanted the service to be personal and also to have both religions represented.” To that end, Pellegrin read excerpts from both the old and new testaments; Daniel broke a glass under his foot as a Jewish tradition, the couple lit a unity candle as a Catholic tradition. Daniel even wrote a poem that a friend read at the ceremony at Good Counsel Chapel in White Plains.

Afterward, the reception at the VIP Club in New Rochelle was a “total party with the dance floor rocking all night,” Daniel says. The nearly 200 guests were entertained by “an awesome DJ” as well as reggae artist Matisyahu, who grew up with Daniel. The couple then left for their honeymoon in Hawaii, their first major vacation together.
