Having two children under the age of 2 didn’t stop Harvard graduate Kate Solomon — a former hair- and skincare product developer for major brands like L’Oreal, Redken, and Avon — from launching her own line of family skincare products. What was the impetus? While pregnant with her first child, Kate had trouble finding hair- and skincare products that she also felt were natural and safe enough to use on her new baby. That’s when the idea for Babo Botanicals — named for her son’s “security bunny” — was born.
Six years — and lots of money, hours, research, and sleepless nights — later, the brand, which includes products for babies, kids, and adults, is sold nationally at Whole Foods, Target.com, and buybuyBaby. Products range from shampoos, washes, bubble baths and lotions for babies to sunscreens and after-sun care for all members of the family. Gifts and bundles are available, too.
Babo products are made with pure plant and flower extracts, and naturally derived, certified organic, and all-natural ingredients. All product ingredients are screened for safety, are dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic, sulfate- and paraben-free, breastfeeding-safe, and contain no synthetic colors or fragrances.
