If you haven’t visited Ossining’s Teatown Lake Reservation in a while, you should check out its new trail, the Twin Lakes Trail, which was opened earlier in the month.
Teatown, which is home to some 1,000 acres of property, now has 15 miles of trails that are open 365 days a year from dawn to dusk. The Twin Lakes Trail is a 2.3-mile loop that takes hikers past two lakes, Shadow (first below) and Vernay (second). The new trail also travels past old farm fields, mature forest, and the highest point at Teatown, which overlooks the Hudson highlands.

The moderately strenuous new trail, according to the press release, will better the trail experience at Teatown for thousands of hikers.
“We are so thrilled to celebrate the opening of this beautiful trail at Teatown,” the reservation’s executive director, Kevin Carter, said in a statement. “The trailhead is located across the street from Teatown’s nature center, and we hope it will attract hikers from throughout the region to this scenic and significant parcel of land.”
