Rye Playland held a ribbon cutting ceremony on National Roller Coaster Day to celebrate its newest addition, the Old Rye Motorbike Factory.

Have you heard the big news? Westchester’s beloved Playland Park just introduced a new ride.

Playland Park’s latest addition opened to guests of the Rye theme park on August 5, then was officially celebrated on Tuesday, August 16, a.k.a. National Roller Coaster Day. The Playland legacy keeps growing with this exciting amusement experience.

The new ride, the Old Rye Motorbike Factory, is the first of its kind in North America. Riders can hop into a vintage Italian motorbike of their choice, buckle up, and await the excitement. They are even able to throttle the accelerator to control their thrill levels. Each motorbike is equipped with a stylish sidecar for those 36” and above to tag along on the fun.

“We are always looking to improve our offerings and bring the best attractions to our guests that they won’t be able to find anywhere else in the area. The Old Rye Motorbike Factory is a completely new ride to Playland that the entire family can enjoy,” notes Ernest Blundell, General Manager of Playland.

Each bike was manufactured in Italy and finely crafted with details you would find on motorbikes centuries ago. The motorbikes are painted deep red, blue, and green, with a tan interior.

The New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts of Rye were in attendance during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, chanting, “Cut it! Cut it! Cut it!” as the Westchester Board of Legislators cut the ribbon. Seconds after the ribbon was cut, the kids snaked through the waiting line as they anticipated their turn on the motorbikes.

The Old Rye Motorbike Factory is the largest single investment this season at Playland Park. It’s part of the multi-year, multimillion-dollar renovation project in partnership with Westchester County and park’s operator, Standard Amusements.
