The celebrity chef is launching his second Red Horse, an American steakhouse with Asian accents, at The Opus, Westchester.
Westchester loves its steakhouses. So, to kick off the new year right, it only makes sense to celebrate with an exciting — dare we say juicy? — newcomer in White Plains.
With an expected open date in January 2023, Red Horse will be the Chef David Burke’s third enterprise in the Hudson Valley and his ninth since the beginning of the pandemic. This eatery marks the acclaimed chef’s intention to expand his brand, as this is his second steakhouse under the Red Horse name (the other located in Rumson, NJ).
Once Red Horse opens in Westchester, it will be a welcome destination in the community for years to come. Upon revealing the restaurant’s impending arrival in the 914, Chef Burke also announced that he signed a 11-year lease with Renaissance Hotel Partners. Great ready for years of mouthwatering steak!
Burke has primarily focused on his establishments in his home state, New Jersey, where he opened four restaurants since March of 2020. His two New York locations are on the Upper East Side and in Saratoga.
“I’m very excited about it as launching pad for the expansion of the Red Horse by David Burke brand. And I’m looking forward to becoming involved in the Westchester Co. dining scene and more involved with the Hudson Valley’s,” shares Burke.

Red Horse will be constructed in and operate out of The Opus, Westchester, located in downtown White Plains. The space was previously occupied by BLT Steak for 11 years and is looking forward to seeing new faces in its kitchen.
Burke and his team will be incorporating characteristic elements of his 15 restaurants as well as his growing Red Horse brand.
To give restaurant-goers a sneak peak of the space, there will be a massive pink Himalayan salt wall separating the open kitchen from the dining room, dazzling light fixtures, and exquisite artwork, some from Burke’s own eclectic collection. Guests can expect to be greeted by not only the host, but a life-sized red horse sculpture that Burke has commissioned.
As for the food, the menu will read similar to the original Red Horse, with a focus on prime beef that’s dry-aged. Also available for order will be a number of Burke’s signatures, such as popovers, “clothesline” bacon, lobster dumplings, salmon pastrami, “angry” lobster, and pork chops with Sandy Hook clams casino.
