Armonk’s downtown may be small, but it has come a long way as a sophisticated dining destination with relatively recent additions such as Fortina, Restaurant North, and Moderne Barn. The trend continues with Mark and Joe Mazzotta’s Amore Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen. After 17 years on Main Street, the brothers moved their neighborhood pizza and pasta joint to Kent Place in a renovated Tuscan-farmhouse-style space with 25-foot ceilings and exposed posts and beams from an old barn in the Catskills. Along with a main dining room filled with warm-colored woods and reclaimed brick, there’s a takeout area with a marble counter, a downstairs bar area with original stained-glass windows from the 1940s, and a 40-seat party room upstairs.
A selection of the Main Street Amore favorites remain on the menu, but daily specials featuring local ingredients (e.g., brick-oven-roasted beets over burrata with Napa Valley EVOO and roasted Atlantic cod over broccoli rabe with roasted garlic) have been added. Dough, sauce, and fresh mozzarella are made in-house.
A note for outdoor dining fans: There’s an 80-seat terrazzo with a wood oven, bocce court, and views of a vegetable garden and brook.
